The message was delivered on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Barbara Prose, Executive Director of Ministry, at the Humanist Service.
“Hope is a duty. In the context of a planet and people in peril, we have an obligation to our own being and to our descendants to study our life and our condition, searching for the authentic underpinnings of hope. If we look carefully, these underpinnings can still be found.” - Wendell Berry, Environmental activist, novelist, and poet
In Greek mythology, Pandora is the first woman in the world. As the story goes, when she opens a large vessel, all that is evil - suffering, illness, cruelty, violence and death - fly up and out into the world. By the time Pandora puts the lid back on the vessel, there’s only one thing left inside – hope. In what ways do you protect and hold onto hope? Join us on Sunday as we uncover the seeds of hope in our lives.
