Sermon delivered on Sunday,
June 24, 2012, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by
Rev. Tamara Lebak, Associate Minister.
The
phrase "bloom where you were planted" seems to acknowledge that we
are not really in control of where specifically we were planted;
but more than that, we are not in control of many aspects of our
lives. Ecotheology is the study of the ways we engage in our
environment. It assumes the relationship between religious
and spiritual views of the world and our relationship to the
Earth.
In the
Christian scriptures we are told that we are not of the world but
in the world. In this sermon, Rev. Lebak explores the
question, What do our liberal religious values ask of us when we
reflect on the relationship between human beings and the Earth upon
which we live?
