Nov 3, 2013
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Marlin Lavanhar, Senior Minister.
It can be pretty presumptuous for a man to stand up and speak about a woman’s spirit, though it hasn’t stopped male clergy from doing just that for many millennia now. But my message this week isn’t aiming to describe the role of women’s spirits in the family, the workplace, or American society; I want to share the story of one woman’s spirit in particular. You almost certainly know of this woman, whose place in history and legend continues to impact hundreds of millions of lives.
