Dr. Anthony B. Pinn is a renowned humanist author, professor, and theologian. He is the Agnes Cullen Arnold Professor of Humanities and Professor of Religious Studies at Rice University as well as the Founding Director of The Center for Engaged Research and Collaborative Learning at Rice University. He is the author of 'Writing God’s Obituary: How a Good Methodist Became a Better Atheist' and 'Why, Lord?: Suffering and Evil in Black Theology,' amongst many other scholarly books, especially focusing upon African American Humanism. Through these works Pinn has highlighted the religious orientation of humanism as deeply rooted within black religion.
