The sermon was delivered on Sunday, August 30, 2015, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Gerald Davis, Affiliate Minister.
Paul writes in chapter four, verse eight: “Finally beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
We spend a lot of time thinking on things that are not included in Paul’s list. It is not for lack of trying, I know. We want to be beloved as Paul calls the Philippians. But we get caught up in that dark hole called knowing. Sometimes to be known means to be seen. But it does not mean to be right. The zero sum game of win/lose equals a constant struggle to be right. Let’s find our way into a discussion that has us “thinking on these things.”
