The sermon was delivered on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Dr. Marlin Lavanhar, Senior Minister.
“When you are broken open you get to discover for the first time what is inside you.”
—Bryant McGill
In March we launch a new theme: “Brokenness”. Life is beautiful, but it is also full of broken hearts, broken promises, broken vows, broken bones, broken families, broken relationships, and brokenness of all kinds. Much of life’s meaning and possibilities are determined by how we face the broken places in our bodies, hearts and world. Beautiful mosaics are made from broken things. Bones are stronger in the places where they have broken and healed. Exquisite gems are found among broken rocks. During the month, we will look at how we can find the gems, strength, beauty, and possibilities in the broken places in our lives and in our world.
