Jul 24, 2016
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Barbara Prose, Executive Director of Ministry.
“Whether it’s the violence and terror by those who misuse the badge or the violence and terror against those who wear the badge and are doing their sworn duty, it is wrong. Violence will only beget more violence,” said the Rev. Dr. William J. Barber. The way of non-violence is a deep and demanding spiritual commitment that we can all adopt as our own. It is active, never passive. Now is the time to read and study the words of Thoreau, Gandhi, and King as we recommit to the practice of satyagraha, or soul force. We really do need each other to survive.
