SERMON DESCRIPTION

“Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weaknesses.”

According to Brenee Brown, it takes curiosity and courage to tell our true stories so that we can live a wholehearted life.

It also requires that we get curious about our own feelings, and not believe every story we tell ourselves.

The new year is just the right time to give ourselves a fresh start and I am learning so much from Brown, I am grateful to be able to share more stories about how we can develop shame resilience as we learn to claim our own worthiness.

Are you ready to be more caring and more confident?

Ready to be less resentful and regretful?

It seems like we all want to be relaxed, real, resilient.

But when life events knock us down, we either want to deny the pain or distract ourselves with various pleasures.

Since we know life will knock us down again in the coming year, it makes sense to learn as much as we can about how people have managed to rise strong, even stronger and more whole than they were before, so we can be ready for something really new in 2016.

Jesus said, “Know the truth and it will set you free.” But what kind of truth was he talking about?

This Sunday we’ll explore how telling ourselves the truth about our own feelings and our own stories, can set us free to live and love the way we imagine it’s possible to do.
