Nov 3, 2019
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Carlton D. Pearson, Affiliate Minister.
The words covenant, coven, convene, and convention derive from the same root. They all refer to agreement of coming together— entering contract and contact with others in a cooperative, committed and devoted manner. Symphoneo is the Greek word for agreement, which we also get the word symphony. It doesn't mean to sound the same. It doesn't even mean to sound alike. It simply means to sound together. All month we are exploring the theme of covenant. As in the tradition of our church, we honor our covenant as it is read aloud at every services. In covenant together, we encourage, enjoy and lovingly make our force of a positive and powerful forward thrust of common growth and personal expansion.
