Dec 7, 2014
The sermon was delivered on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Dr. Marlin Lavanhar, Senior Minister.
In this message, Rev. Dr. Marlin Lavanhar lifts up the ways that real and lasting hope is found amidst the struggles and pain of life. We are not supposed to run from our pain, but run toward it. Our wounds are also wombs through which our hope and destiny is born. In order to follow our bliss, we must first follow our blisters. If we have been alive a while then we have blisters on our bodies and our hearts. These are doorways to our gifts and our life's full expression. In the midst of protests and racial tensions around America in the wake of Ferguson, this message includes a rare glimpse into the ways Rev. Lavanhar has been grappling with issues of hope and despair, oppression and the call for liberation.
