The message was delivered on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Dr. Marlin Lavanhar, Senior Minister, at the Humanist Service.
Martin Luther King Jr. was only given seven minutes to speak at the March on Washington. He submitted his speech prior to the day of the march and the words, “I Have A Dream” were not in his prepared remarks. Nevertheless, his speech lasted 25 minutes and fifty years later, we still hold tightly to the dream he shared that day. It remains one of the most influential speeches in US history. Looking back a half century, I will explore what his words mean for us today.
